1% Daily
I wrote this for Day 20 of my 30 Days content challenge and I’m creating it here for two purposes:
To help you understand how to recreate content for a different audience
Because I feel this is universal content and it will be valuable to you too.
At the beginning of this year, a particular broadcast message was making rounds on Whatsapp, and probably other social media platforms.
You may remember it…
It was a savings plan broadcast message, letting you know how much you can accumulate at the end of the year if you can save 100, 200, 300 naira, etc daily.
Just like those little savings that amount to enough money for a project at the end of the year, 1% progress made daily makes you a better person at the end of the year.
James Clear calls this the act of continuous improvement. This is a dedication to making small changes and improvements every day, with the expectation that those small improvements will add up to something significant.
Here are few things you should do to improve 1% daily:
1. Read daily. It doesn't have to be books. it could be posts or social media content, just make sure you add to your knowledge bank daily. Read within your field, explore other fields too. Also, make out time to read about personal development and how to be a better person.
2. Study. It's not enough to just read. You must study. It is while studying that you learn all you need to get better at your skill, managing your business, as well as your emotions.
3. Observe. Learn from your environment and the people around you. Learn from your circle. Observe people around you. What are they doing better than you? What should you do to improve? What new thing should you add to your skill set? Observe how the world is evolving, and key in daily.
4. Relax. As creatives, our brain is always active. We’re thinking of how to position ourselves better in the workplace. However, while we do this, we must learn to relax. Take a walk. Run a mile. Sit in a garden and chill with a bottle of wine. Body no be firewood oh.
5. Practice. You're not supposed to bear a title that relates to any profession unless you have work to show for it. You’re not a writer until you write. You’re not a reader until you read. You’re not a designer unless you design. You’re not a marketer until you sell stuff. Also, the best way to get better at what you do is through practice. Practice daily and continuously. It can be minute, but make sure you practice.
With just 1% improvement daily, you would have made a 100% improvement in 100 Days.
