Life often takes us on unexpected journeys, sometimes leading us to the lowest points we can imagine.
A lot of people call it “Rock Bottom”
It is the point where you can’t go down anymore, so the only thing left is to either give up or go up.
We experience rock bottom in different areas and stages of our lives. It could be career, family, relationships etc.
Going towards a downward slope in one area of your life, can greatly impact other areas and make it difficult for you to perform.
You could be going through a rough patch at work, and it will affect your relationships. You snap at everyone, drink, smoke, or live as a different human being.
This downward spiral can lead to one mistake you’ll never be able to control or a great loss you’ll not wish on anyone.
That one event makes you rethink all your life’s decisions. It makes you want to do better, want to get help, or work harder.
When you start feeling this way, you are at Rock Bottom and here are a few things you can do:
- Acknowledge how far you’ve fallen
Never in the history of being helped has someone who doesn’t want to accept help been helped.
One of the things that can keep you going toward a downward slope is believing all is well and no help is needed.
At rock bottom, you have to be honest with yourself and be honest to others, so that you can get the support you need at this time.
- Seek Help and Support
Chances are, there’s always someone who has seen how far you have fallen and who is willing to help. They offer to help and you push them away.
This is time to reach out to that friend, family or spiritual head.
If you need professional help as well, don’t hesitate to reach out to mental health professionals and get the care you need.
- It’s time to rise.
You’ll need that inner resilience that helps you surmount the problems life throws at you.
You need to remember that this is not the end. It is an opportunity to rise, learn and adapt.
- G.R.O.W
What are the factors that contributed to your circumstances?
How can you fix them, or how can you grow from them?
This knowledge allows us to make positive changes and grow stronger.
- Listen To Others
No matter what you are going through in life, chances are someone else has gone through that.
Listen to inspiring stories of individuals who turned their lives around after hitting rock bottom. This will show you that there's hope even in the darkest moments.
I don’t know what you are going through right now, or where you are career wise, spiritually, mentally, emotionally etc.
I want to remind you that you don’t have to hit rock bottom to make a U-turn.
Ask for help. It will be difficult, but it is needed and I believe in your ability to get what you need.
And if you are at rock bottom already, make that decision to go up, go further and be better.
Remember, the only way to go when you are down is up.
I’m rooting for you and you can send a reply if you ever need to talk.
SHINE!
