I love books. I love reading. I'm someone who reads.
So when I see a good book, I'm so eager to get it. The problem is, sometimes it ends at getting it.
This year, I said I was going to read 36 books. This may spoil my reputation ladies and gentlemen, but I'm not sure I've completed 10 books.
Keyword = completed.
I've read up to 10 books, but have I completed up to 10 books?
That has not stopped me from buying books. Last month I bought two from Bella Books. I got another two from buying Write like a Boss course. My friend got me a new book yesterday.
I started buying my hardcopy books this year. I wanted an offline Library, and the universe has been slaving for me, to make sure I own this library.
I've bought my own books and I've been gifted books too. My hardcopy library keeps growing, but have I read all the books? You know the answer already.
Once upon a time, I visited an older friend whom I admire so much. On getting to his place, I saw a Shelf filled with books.
Amazing books were there. My favorite author Robert Greene had his full collection in the house. Brian Tracy's books were there, Dale Carnegie's books and the monk Robert Sharma's book.
I was so excited. "I'm going to have a book-filled discussion today", I thought.
When he came out, I started blabbing about 48 Laws of Power. How I was able to start and finish the book and how amazing it is.
I talked about Art of Seduction too, how people neglect the fact that it is a good business book, and that selling is about seducing customers.
I jumped into Brian Tracy's Maximum Achievement, told him how I started practicing consistency after I read the book.
I kept ranting and my friend was just looking at me. The moment I finished, he smiled, and said, " Bridget, those books are on my shelf, but I've not read them".
I'm looking for books to read, and you have books but you're not reading them? I couldn't understand that then, but now I do.
Peer pressure can make you buy books you'll end up not reading. Don't be discouraged, keep buying. Someone else might need the book.
I picked one of those books one time from my friend. I've forgotten the author and the name, but that book taught me a whole lot about mindset and business.
I read it twice while I was still in secondary school, and I can remember the lessons, and some stories used to date.
I'll tell you one of the stories in my next newsletter, as well as what happened to the book.
For today, let's discuss the lessons from my story:
Don't feel guilty about the books you've bought that you've not read. I have books I've not read either. My older friend had a shelf filled with books he didn't read. I'm sure someone you admire bought books he didn't finish too.
Don't stop buying books because you've not read the ones you bought earlier, especially if you want to build an offline library.
The Universe is your friend, if you want something, speak to it. As you strive to achieve your goal, the universe works with you too.
It may not be you who needs the book you're buying today, a friend may need it, and they will take it without returning it😁
You don't need to remember the author or name of a book to remember the lessons in it.
In conclusion, start reading those books you bought🙄.
You thought this whole thing is going to end in sympathy? And I'll tell you to keep buying, and don't read?
Sorry to disappoint you.
I've mapped out a way to start reading my books, starting tomorrow.
You won't get the knowledge in books until you read them. So burn your excuses, and water your knowledge.
Stay amazing,
Bridget here.
Buying books without reading is a serious virus oh🙄😅
