While scrolling through social media yesterday, I came across a video.
The edit wasn’t very gold and glitter like the normal thing we see from content creators on social media.
The lighting was not nice. It had a lot of noise on the surface.
It’s one of those videos that if you care about aesthetics, you’d scroll past it without thinking twice.
I wanted to know what message this person has that made them ignore aesthetics.
I checked, and in the comments I saw someone asking if this person has a class on Video Editing.
I had to go back to check if there was something I was missing, then it dawned on me.
You don’t have to be a professional to make money online. You just need to have a certain degree of knowledge and be able to sell that knowledge you have to people that have none at all.
The first step to doing that, is to show up.
I know people who can do better edits that still feel they are not good enough to put out content.
All they do is scroll through social media, criticize the look of the videos they see online, rinse and repeat.
They believe they can do it better than the person who is out there pushing and showing up, but they don’t do it.
They wait for the person to blow up so that they can ask why people are obsessed with low-quality content.
I hope you are not this person who constantly obsesses over other people’s quality of work when you are not even doing the work required of you.
You wonder why your friend who learned to design 4 months ago always has clients but you’ve been in the industry for several years with little to no client base.
You forget that you have refused to show up.
You are not on social media creating and posting design samples.
You are not in people’s DMs letting them know what you do.
You are not on freelance platforms making bids and actively seeking clients.
Only the customers referred to you are people you work with.
You want to do better, but you are not doing anything that makes you better.
Here’s a reminder that people are cashing out with less knowledge than you have now, but that is only possible because they do the work.
Stop whining, and start acting.
Start where you are. Push out what you know.
More Action, Less Talk.
The world wants a glimpse of your talent, show them and let them pay you for it.
