Your knowledge is useless without character
Yesterday, I went to church.
It's the 3rd time I'm worshipping in this church and those three times, I missed the praise session.
Don't call me a chronic latecomer. I won't tolerate that. Perhaps I will though, because hearing it may push me to get to Church early next week.
The thing is this church is amazing because even though I arrived late, I got an amount of value that will last for the entire week and more.
The drama started when the man of God decided to break some people's table.
I hope you're not on this table because the table was totally broken.
He talked about two categories of people,
Those who have character but lack knowledge, and those who have knowledge but lack character.
In his words, your knowledge is useless without character.
This made me remember the movie, The Lion King.
While Simba was away and enjoying the company of his friends in the new community he found himself, he met Nala, who happened to be his childhood friend and ex-girlfriend.
She had the knowledge that had become recessive in Simba. She knew and actively remembered that Simba was supposed to be king.
However, because she lacked character, she couldn’t communicate this knowledge to Simba.
Lack of character made her rude and arrogant. What was supposed to be a rescue, became a fight and she couldn’t pass her knowledge on to Simba.
It’s a new week, and if you’re reading this, that means you have knowledge and you’re also trying to improve your knowledge.
While you grow in knowledge, endeavor to grow in character too. Be humble, polite, and learn to communicate with people in your space.
To live profitably, to live a successful and balanced life, you must learn to add character to knowledge and knowledge to character.
According to my Pastor once again, Knowledge is the balance for Character and Character is the balance for Knowledge.
Have an amazing new week.
I will write to you again on Wednesday.
Bridget here.
